Shift Type: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (36 hours guaranteed per week), every other weekend, holidays as needed

Hours per Week: 60

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and neonatal patients, including ventilator management, critical care assessment, and general floor therapy
  • Perform and evaluate pulmonary function tests, bedside spirometry, and arterial blood gas punctures to aid in diagnosis and treatment
  • Administer and interpret EKGs, Holter monitor scanning, and stress tests to support the cardiopulmonary department
  • Assist with Neopuff support for newborns, ensuring optimal respiratory outcomes for our littlest patients
  • Supervise and mentor Certified Respiratory Therapists in the absence of the director, fostering a collaborative and skilled team
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to determine appropriate therapy based on each patient's pathophysiological state and clinical needs
  • Cross-train in the cardiology side of the department, including event monitoring and EEGs, to broaden your diagnostic skills
  • Collect and evaluate clinical information through patient interviews and physical assessments to inform individualized care plans

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5 years of current experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • You hold an active Michigan Registered Respiratory Therapist license in good standing
  • You are certified as an RRT by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and carry current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • You are open to cross-training in cardiopulmonary diagnostics, including EKG, stress testing, Holter monitoring, event monitoring, and EEGs
  • You have experience with Cerner EMR (strongly preferred)
  • You have your own reliable vehicle for this assignment and are comfortable including your permanent address in your profile
  • You can provide work history, a current skills checklist, and two supervisory references from the past two years

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in adult ventilator care and critical care assessment
  • Proficient in arterial blood gas (ABG) access and analysis
  • Skilled in EKG administration, Holter monitoring, and scanning
  • Knowledge of pulmonary function testing and stress testing
  • Familiarity with Neopuff support for newborns
  • Experience with general floor respiratory therapy
  • Understanding of cardiac diagnostic procedures like event monitoring and EEG
  • Comfortable using Cerner EMR
