Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to post-surgical patients, including those recovering from bariatric and orthopedic procedures
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in condition with quick thinking and compassion
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and ensure patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to create personalized care plans
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, pain management, and recovery milestones
• Adapt quickly when floating to other units like med/renal, oncology, or telemetry to support team needs

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license in good standing
• At least 1 year of experience in Med/Surg, Ortho, or Surgical nursing
• Current BLS certification (AHA or equivalent)
• Strong preference for ACLS, bariatric, med/surg, or ortho certifications
• Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to float to different units

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with MEDITECH EHR system
• Solid understanding of surgical procedures, including bariatric and orthopedic surgeries
• Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients with varying acuities (1:5-1:6 ratio)
• Comfortable with unit equipment like Hospira pumps and mobile devices
• Strong communication and teamwork to thrive in a fast-paced environment
