Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adult patients during night shifts
• Administer medications and manage infusion therapies safely and accurately
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members across Mercy Main and West Des Moines
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly in the medical record
• Support patients and families with education, emotional support, and discharge planning
• Participate in required competency testing and skills maintenance to ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in Iowa (license/certificate verification required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Willingness to float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines as needed
• Ability to pass required pre-employment testing (drug screen, fit test, color vision)
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, physical/health statement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid oncology nursing fundamentals and comfortable with infusion/chemotherapy workflows
• Strong assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with competency testing and clinical skills checklists
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting care clearly
