Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to adult patients, monitoring rhythms and responding to changes in condition
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions that improve outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely while documenting care accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Use telemetry monitoring to detect arrhythmias and escalate concerns promptly and appropriately
• Float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines as needed, maintaining consistent standards of care across sites
• Complete required Trinity competency testing and skills checklists to demonstrate and maintain unit-specific proficiency

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse license (ability to verify license/certification required)
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing with telemetry skills preferred
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; TNCC and NIHSS as listed
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Must be willing to float between Mercy Main and West Des Moines as assigned
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, and immunization requirements

Education

• Required: Active RN licensure (state verification required)
• Preferred: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• Medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and timely escalation
• Clear documentation and communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort with unit-specific competency processes and skills validation
