Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and immediate postpartum patients
• Continuously monitor fetal heart tracings and intervene or escalate per AWHONN standards
• Perform neonatal resuscitation when required and support safe transition to newborn care
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery and immediate postpartum process
• Complete specialty competency checklists and documentation to ensure high standards of care
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Iowa) — license/certificate verification required
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications
• AWHONN and fetal heart monitoring competency (AWHONN/FHM listed as required)
• Experience in Labor & Delivery nursing (prior L&D clinical experience preferred)
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist as required
• Meet facility personal health requirements (fit test, immunizations, 10-panel drug screen, 2-step PPD or IGRA, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient in neonatal resuscitation techniques and stabilizing newborns
• Strong antepartum/intrapartum/postpartum assessment and intervention skills
• Ability to apply ACLS and BLS protocols in urgent scenarios
• Familiarity with AWHONN standards and specialty-specific competency expectations
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity obstetric settings
