Location: Fort Defiance, Arizona
Start Date: 08-24-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 12-Hour Day shift; must be flexible to work other shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $84 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and the well-baby nursery
- Support breastfeeding and Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) practices
- Monitor fetal heart rates and assess maternal/fetal status during labor and delivery
- Assist with C-sections and provide postoperative care
- Step into the charge nurse role on occasion after completing training
- Float to other departments as needed, providing hands-on patient care or task support
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care
- Active Arizona RN license or compact license - must be currently active
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring required; RNC-EFM may be substituted
- STABLE certification preferred
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in labor and delivery nursing, postpartum care, and newborn assessment
- Expertise in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
- Knowledge of Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) practices
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Capability to take on charge nurse duties after training
- Comfortable floating to other departments and adapting quickly
