Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status, to shape individualized care plans.
• Implement evidence-based care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent way that prioritizes patient safety and positive outcomes.
• Educate patients and their families, adapting teaching to readiness to learn and documenting education in the medical record.
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record, meeting all regulatory and policy requirements.
• Delegate and supervise care delivered by other nurses and support staff, ensuring quality and continuity.
• Serve as a lead on your unit, including charge nurse duties such as patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and coordination.
• Maintain a commitment to professional growth, safety standards, and Samaritan's core values of Listen, Love, Respect, Excel, and Innovate.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Current, active Washington State RN license
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA or equivalent) within 30 days of hire
• ACLS within 6 months of hire; PALS and TNCC within 12 months; PEARS and moderate sedation training within 12 months
• Acute care nursing experience preferred; at least one year of RN experience preferred for specialty departments
• RN-C certification is a plus

Education

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of the nursing process and evidence-based care
• Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment in fast-paced situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Comfort delegating tasks, supervising coworkers, and collaborating with the care team
• Ability to respond calmly in crisis situations and prioritize multiple patient needs
• Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and safe body mechanics
• Knowledge of patient education and family support strategies
