Roles & Responsibilities

• Float between specialty ICUs to provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator management with confidence
• Titrate and manage vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and precisely
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy, arterial lines, central lines, PICCs and ports
• Interpret ABGs, 12-lead EKGs and dysrhythmias and act quickly on findings
• Care for patients with complex neurologic devices such as EVDs and ICP monitoring
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube management, sheath removal and post-cardiac surgery care
• Document thorough, accurate patient care in EPIC and communicate effectively with the care team

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — required
• Proficiency with EPIC charting — required
• Demonstrated experience with IV Start, Telemetry and Ventilator management — required
• Teaching hospital experience — required
• Previous travel nursing experience — strongly preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Willingness and ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care fundamentals and ventilator management
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Advanced vascular access and central line/PICC care
• Neurologic assessment including NIHSS, EVD and ICP monitoring
• Respiratory support: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, suctioning and ABG interpretation
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and Pulmonary Artery Line monitoring
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and procedural sedation support
• Strong EPIC documentation skills and interdisciplinary communication
