Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to patients on a fast-paced general surgery unit
• Monitor telemetry and assess patient conditions to ensure optimal outcomes
• Administer medications including IV antibiotics and heparin drips
• Manage post-surgical care for a variety of surgical procedures
• Collaborate with charge nurses, providers, unit secretaries, and CNAs to deliver seamless care
• Educate patients and families on post-operative recovery and self-care
• Manage drains, urinary catheters, wound vacs, and tube feedings

Qualifications

• Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• Telemetry competency required
• Ability to manage 6-7 patients per shift
• Experience with urology and bowel care populations preferred
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound vacs and PCA pumps
• Knowledge of tube feedings, PEG tubes, and Dobhoff tubes
• Skill in caring for colostomies and urostomies
• Comfort with administering TPN, IV antibiotics, and heparin drips
• Expertise in managing urinary catheters, drains, and CBI
• Understanding of post-surgical care for general surgery patients
