Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment, maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene
• Take and develop dental X-rays as directed, helping to diagnose and plan treatments
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care, empowering them to maintain healthy smiles
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage appointment scheduling with a friendly and organized approach

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification or licensure as required by Maryland state regulations
• Radiology/X-ray certification and experience with dental imaging
• Previous experience in orthodontic assisting preferred
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental environment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and instruments
• Familiarity with dental practice management software, such as Denticon
• Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with patients of all ages
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment
