Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment, maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene
- Take and develop dental X-rays as directed, helping to diagnose and plan treatments
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care, empowering them to maintain healthy smiles
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage appointment scheduling with a friendly and organized approach
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or licensure as required by Maryland state regulations
- Radiology/X-ray certification and experience with dental imaging
- Previous experience in orthodontic assisting preferred
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental environment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and instruments
- Familiarity with dental practice management software, such as Denticon
- Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with patients of all ages
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment
