Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure timely care
• Assist with meal service and feeding as needed while respecting residents’ preferences and dignity
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care activities and observations
• Follow infection prevention protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Build rapport with residents and families to create a warm, trusting care environment

Qualifications

• Valid CNA certification (state-registered) — ability to work in New Mexico required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts with a focus on weekend coverage
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in activities of daily living (ADL) assistance and resident hygiene
• Safe patient transfer and mobility techniques
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation of clinical changes
• Infection control practices and proper PPE use
• Clear, respectful verbal and written communication
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
