Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents—assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Help with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote resident comfort and dignity
• Take and record vital signs and promptly report any changes to the nursing team
• Support mealtime and feeding assistance as needed, encouraging nutrition and hydration
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly during handoffs to ensure continuity
• Create a friendly, respectful environment that supports residents’ emotional and social needs
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in New York State (required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and required health screenings
• Comfort with physical aspects of the role, including lifting and assisting residents
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; current NY CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
• Basic vital signs measurement and documentation skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Ability to follow care plans and accurately record observations
• Compassionate communication and de-escalation techniques
• Time management skills to prioritize resident needs during a shift
