Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough nursing assessments and triage to prioritize inmate care
• Draw blood and complete laboratory specimen collection accurately and safely
• Provide compassionate, professional nursing care within a correctional setting
• Document assessments, interventions, and communications clearly in charting systems
• Collaborate with security and clinical teams to maintain a safe environment
• Float to other facilities as needed to maintain continuity of care
• Work every other weekend as scheduled to ensure consistent patient coverage

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Demonstrated assessment experience — you know how to triage and prioritize
• Proficient in blood draws / phlebotomy
• Comfortable working in a secure, correctional environment and able to pass background checks
• Ability to float to other facilities and work every other weekend
• Professional communication skills and strong documentation habits

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active RN license required

• Patient assessment and triage in urgent and routine situations
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling best practices
• Correctional healthcare protocols and security awareness
• Clear clinical documentation and electronic charting
• Infection control, universal precautions, and safety procedures
