Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a busy med/surg unit
- Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement nursing plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and timely
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
- Document care clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns when appropriate
Qualifications
- Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- One year of acute care or med/surg experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply
- Reliable, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to pass required background and health screenings
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and critical thinking for adult medical and surgical patients
- Familiarity with common hospital equipment and medication administration best practices
- Comfortable using electronic medical records, Epic experience a plus
- Strong teamwork, time management, and patient education skills
- Basic quality improvement and safety mindset
