Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients with warmth and professionalism, collect histories, medications and allergies
- Obtain and document vital signs including blood pressure, weight and pulse oximetry
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures, set up rooms and necessary supplies
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws accurately, label specimens and prepare for lab submission
- Administer immunizations, injections or oral meds as directed by providers
- Assist with department data tracking and follow-up phone communications
- Clean and re-process equipment according to clinic guidelines to keep patients safe
- Explain policies and procedures to patients within your scope of practice
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an accredited program or national certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
- Minimum 2 years working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office
- Proficiency with blood draws/venipuncture; phlebotomy certification preferred
- Experience with medical insurance, referral processes and benefit plan workflows
- Comfortable using electronic health records (Epic/CS-Link experience preferred)
- Formal resume required with submission and ability to attend virtual and in-person interviews
- Local to the area or willing to commute within approximately 50 minutes in traffic
Education
- Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma OR national MA certification (AAMA/AMCA/AMT/CCBMA/MMCI)
- HS/GED required; MA diploma programs preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology
- Vital signs collection and documentation
- Venipuncture and specimen collection best practices
- Familiarity with Epic/CS-Link and laboratory submission workflows (Quest)
- Patient preparation and rooming workflows
- Telephone triage basics, prior authorization and insurance verification experience
