Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor, delivery and postpartum nursing care
- Receive, assess and transition newborns to ensure a safe first hour and beyond
- Monitor fetal status and intervene or escalate appropriately using fetal monitoring skills
- Manage obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage with calm, competent action
- Assist with and support C-sections, vaginal births with instrumentation (vacuum/forceps), circumcisions and intra-uterine monitoring
- Document care accurately and timely in Meditech and CPN to support continuity and safety
- Perform daily patient rounding and safety checks to promote excellent patient experience
- Collaborate with neonatology via tele-med robot and with the multi-disciplinary team to optimize outcomes
- Serve as a team player who can float between LDRP and NICU when needed and help mentor newer nurses
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Tennessee (or compact RN eligible)
- BLS and NRP required
- Fetal Monitoring training required (or equivalent fetal monitoring certification)
- Labor and delivery clinical experience required; experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil), C-sections and newborn assessment preferred
- Comfort managing obstetric emergencies (shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays and float within the facility as needed
- Strong communication skills and commitment to patient-centered care
Education
- Active RN license; ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation and education
- Experience with inductions and augmentation (Pitocin, Cervidil)
- Newborn assessment and transition care
- Shoulder dystocia and PPH management skills
- Familiarity with C-sections, vacuum/forceps assisted deliveries and circumcisions
- Comfort using Meditech and CPN documentation systems
- Teamwork, prioritization and triage skills in a fast-paced LDRP/NICU environment
