Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate care to both low-risk and high-risk obstetric patients throughout labor and delivery
- Circulate and assist safely during cesarean sections, maintaining sterile field and supporting the surgical team
- Perform intermediate and advanced fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to guide clinical decisions
- Lead patient-centered care that elevates the patient experience and supports families during birth
- Collaborate closely with physicians, midwives, doulas, and the broader care team to coordinate seamless deliveries
- Respond to neonatal and maternal emergencies with NRP, ACLS, and BLS protocols as needed
- Document care accurately in the EMR (CPN, Meditech) and communicate handoffs clearly at shift changes
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Colorado or compact RN license eligible for practice
- NRP, BLS and ACLS certifications required
- EFM-C or AWHONN fetal monitoring certification required, with intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring experience
- Proven ability to care for both low-risk and high-risk obstetric patients and to circulate c-sections
- Comfortable managing unblocked/unepiduralized patients and performing labor support
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and exceptional patient experience skills
- Mom/Baby or couplet care experience is a plus
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in fetal monitoring systems, including GE fetal monitor systems
- Experience with EMR systems such as CPN and Meditech
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking in acute obstetric situations
- Strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary birth teams
- Ability to maintain calm and lead during high-acuity events like hemorrhage or fetal distress
