Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate students' speech, language, voice and swallowing needs using evidence-based tools
- Design and deliver individualized intervention plans and group therapy that help students make measurable gains
- Lead and contribute to IEP meetings, writing clear goals and progress reports that inform instruction
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents and allied providers to support students in the classroom
- Monitor caseload progress, maintain timely documentation and ensure compliance with state and district requirements
- Provide consultative support and strategies for classroom staff to promote carryover of communication goals
- Support students across school settings, adapting techniques for small groups, pull-out, and push-in services
Qualifications
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) — required
- Colorado State SLP license — required (CDE certificate may be pending at hire)
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) certificate — required, pending CDE is acceptable to start
- Experience in school-based SLP preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills welcome
- Comfortable managing a K-8 caseload and traveling between two nearby school sites
- Valid background check and ability to meet district health requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of speech, language, articulation, fluency and voice disorders in children
- Proficiency with school-based assessment tools, formative progress monitoring and IEP documentation
- Experience with evidence-based therapy approaches and augmentative/alternative communication (AAC)
- Excellent collaboration, communication and classroom consultation skills
- Caseload management, time management and organization to keep records current and services consistent
- Ability to adapt therapy for diverse learners and work within multidisciplinary teams
