Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled post-anesthesia nursing care in Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Monitor patients closely using GE monitors and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Perform comprehensive assessments, focusing on airway, pain, hemodynamics and emergence from anesthesia
• Administer medications, IVs and analgesia per orders and hospital protocols
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons and perioperative teams for safe handoffs and discharges
• Educate patients and families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused unit culture that prioritizes patient safety and efficiency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or compact RN license
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Pre-op experience is a plus and will make your application stand out
• Upbeat, calm demeanor with strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia care principles (Phase I and Phase II)
• Proficiency with GE monitors and cardiac/respiratory monitoring
• Medication administration and pain management in the immediate postoperative period
• Accurate, timely documentation in Meditech EMR
• Excellent patient assessment and triage skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively
• Team collaboration and clear handoff communication
