Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns during the recovery period
• Monitor and assess antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, promptly identifying any changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV placements, and prescribed treatments with precision and care
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery to empower them at home
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Ensure a safe, comforting, and healing environment for mothers and babies

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience in postpartum, newborn nursery, or antepartum care
• Experience caring for high-risk antepartum patients and postpartum recoveries
• Newborn nursery experience required
• Strong IV placement skills
• Preferred: Meditech experience, Advanced FM training, or RNC-OB certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of antepartum, postpartum, and newborn nursery care
• Proficient in IV placement and medication administration
• Comfortable using electronic documentation systems, ideally Meditech
• Ability to interpret fetal monitoring and advanced fetal monitoring (preferred)
• Excellent patient education and communication skills
• Works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment
