Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct interview-based Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
• Perform targeted physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing when indicated
• Document clear, timely, and thorough non-treatment evaluation reports
• Complete required administrative follow-up including addendums and medical opinions as needed
• Adhere to VES/Maximus policies, training requirements, and credentialing standards
• Communicate effectively with support staff and referral partners to ensure smooth patient care coordination
• Protect Veteran privacy and maintain accurate, compliant clinical records

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible physicians in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine experience with C&P work encouraged to apply
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the state(s) where you will practice
• Experience or comfort with interview-based exams and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
• Ability to complete thorough written reports and administrative follow-up (addendums, medical opinions, reading diagnostics)
• For own-office option: a private office within a 50-mile radius of the listed city and ability to see Veterans in-office
• Willingness to complete required training and onboarding prior to performing exams

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical interviewing and focused physical assessment techniques
• Expertise in non-treatment evaluations such as C&P exams and separation health assessments
• Proficient report writing and documentation for non-treatment evaluations
• Range of motion testing and muscle strength testing skills
• Ability to prepare addendums and provide medical opinions based on exam findings
• Comfort reading basic diagnostic information to inform evaluations
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
