Respiratory Therapist - RT
Location: Athens, Georgia
Start Date: 09-08-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Rotating 12.5-hour shifts, days and specific times vary based on department needs
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, evaluate, and treat patients with respiratory conditions and disorders
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation as ordered
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and adjust therapy plans in collaboration with the care team
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and equipment
- Respond quickly and effectively to respiratory emergencies and code situations
- Document all patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record
Qualifications
- Active Georgia Respiratory Therapist license
- CRT or RRT certification from the NBRC
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- New graduates welcome; acute care experience is a plus
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Airway management and mechanical ventilation support
- Oxygen therapy administration and monitoring
- Pulmonary rehabilitation and disease management
- Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
- Infection control best practices and patient safety standards
