Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 10-hour day shifts, start time between 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM; plus required on-call (weeknights and one weekend per month)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery, ensuring safe and comfortable transitions for every patient.
• Monitor vital signs, interpret basic telemetry, and respond quickly to changes in patient status.
• Care for a diverse patient population, including pediatric and occasional cath lab patients, across a variety of surgical cases.
• Collaborate with a working charge nurse and a supportive team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
• Float between the College Station and Bryan campuses as needed, and cover Pre-op during call shifts.
• Participate in on-call rotations with a 30-minute response time, and precept new team members as unit needs arise.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• At least 1 year of PACU experience; first-time travelers welcome to apply!
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with 83% or higher within three attempts before starting.
• Comfortable floating between campuses and covering Pre-op as needed.
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) within the past year; PRN through outside firms is okay.

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with SIS, MEDHOST, or Meditech charting systems.
• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips.
• Knowledge of Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU recovery, including pediatric and critical care patients.
• Skilled in managing patients with oral airways, LMAs, and critical care drips.
• Team player ready to pitch in and support colleagues whenever needed.
