Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
• Monitor vital signs, airway, and consciousness levels during the recovery phase
• Assess patients for complications and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and manage postoperative pain per physician orders
• Collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure smooth patient transitions
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• BLS certification required (ACLS strongly preferred)
• Previous PACU, critical care, or emergency nursing experience preferred
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills to manage patients recovering from anesthesia
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia care protocols and recovery scoring systems
• Proficiency in monitoring and interpreting vital signs and cardiac rhythms
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and the care team
• Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients with varying acuity levels
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
