Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill neuro/vascular ICU patients
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using Meditech EMR and ICU-specific assessments
• Perform and assist with critical procedures such as intubation, central line care, arterial line management and EVD patient care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Prioritize patient safety and infection control while managing complex equipment and devices
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, offering clear explanations and emotional support during critical moments

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas; compact license holders accepted where applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience (NVICU or similar critical care experience preferred)
• Current ACLS certification required
• Demonstrated competency with critical care procedures including intubation, central line and arterial line management
• Comfortable working in high-acuity neuro and oncology patient populations; neuro experience preferred
• Ability to work rotating nights and at least 4 weekends per schedule period

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and prioritization skills in high-acuity settings
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and documentation best practices
• Proven ability to manage advanced ICU equipment and monitor complex patient parameters
• Team-oriented communication, accountability, and compassionate patient advocacy
• Basic familiarity with neuro-critical care procedures and post-procedure monitoring
