Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to a 17-bed MedSurg/Ortho unit with a typical 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Provide post-operative care for orthopedic patients recovering from hip, knee, shoulder, and spine procedures
• Monitor patients using portable telemetry, interpret rhythms, and respond quickly to changes in status
• Administer medications, manage pain, and coordinate with the care team to promote optimal recovery
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and discharge instructions, empowering them for life after the hospital
• Float to telemetry or other med/surg floors as needed, bringing your expertise wherever it is most needed
• Document accurately in the Cerner EMR and follow all facility policies and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (or ability to obtain one before start)
• 2-3 years of MedSurg/Ortho nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Ability to interpret telemetry rhythms and pass a dysrhythmia exam
• Team player with flexibility to float and help where needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of orthopedic and med-surg patient care
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Proficiency with Cerner EHR
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with hospitalists, charge nurses, and support staff
• Critical thinking and time management in an acute care setting
• Adaptability to float between telemetry and other med-surg floors
