Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to medical-surgical patients with a wide range of acute conditions
• Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately while monitoring for effectiveness
• Monitor vital signs and patient status, promptly identifying any changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Educate patients and their families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care thoroughly and maintain accurate electronic health records
• Maintain a safe, clean, and healing environment for both patients and teammates

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in Alabama or a compact state
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Previous med/surg nursing experience preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical rotations are welcome
• Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care effectively
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed in a per diem role

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing standards and best practices
• Skilled in IV therapy, wound care, and patient monitoring
• Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Excellent patient education and advocacy abilities
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
• Strong team collaboration and interdisciplinary communication skills
