Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to diverse patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and managing complex medical conditions
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes on a 28-bed unit with overflow capacity
• Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift reports to keep patients and families informed and comfortable
• Float to PCU and behavioral health units as needed, showcasing your adaptability and clinical versatility
• Administer medications including heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombotics, and narcotics while monitoring patient responses
• Support patients with a wide range of needs from total joint replacements to COPD, diabetes, wounds, and acute respiratory distress

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum one year of recent Med Surg or Ortho experience preferred
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to pass a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with IV infusions, wound care, and post-operative orthopedic protocols
• Comfortable floating between Med Surg, PCU, and behavioral health settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Flexible and self-directed approach to changing patient needs
• Understanding of hourly rounding and bedside reporting best practices
