Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, responding quickly to changes
• Assist with deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency interventions as needed
• Educate and support families through the birthing process
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the care team to ensure safe outcomes
• Document care accurately and maintain a calm, reassuring presence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Labor and delivery experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of obstetric nursing practices and fetal monitoring
• Comfortable with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation
• Skilled in patient education and family support
• Ability to stay calm under pressure in fast-paced situations
• Team-oriented with a patient-first mindset
