Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist chairside during exams, bonding, adjustments, and appliance placement
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms to maintain a safe, clean environment
- Take dental impressions, digital scans, and X-rays as directed for patient treatment
- Educate patients on braces care, oral hygiene, and post-procedure instructions
- Keep accurate patient records and chart treatment details efficiently
Qualifications
- Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) or equivalent orthodontic certification is required
- State certification/registration as a Dental Assistant in Maryland is required
- Strong experience with orthodontic procedures and patient care is preferred
- Great communication skills and a friendly, reassuring chairside manner
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of chairside assisting techniques and four-handed dentistry
- Understanding of sterilization standards, OSHA guidelines, and infection control
- Familiarity with dental software; Denticon experience is a bonus
- Radiography/X-ray certification and digital imaging skills are helpful
