Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures, from braces adjustments to retainers, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for every patient.
- Take and develop dental X-rays to help guide treatment planning and monitor progress.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms, keeping everything in top shape for the next smile.
- Educate patients and families on proper oral hygiene and appliance care, turning dental anxiety into confidence.
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage chairside supplies so the office runs efficiently.
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification or registration in Maryland (or the ability to obtain it)
- X-ray certification or the ability to become certified
- Previous orthodontic experience is a plus, but we are happy to train the right person
- A friendly, compassionate chairside manner and excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a lively orthodontic practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and orthodontic procedures
- Comfort with dental software and digital imaging systems
- Strong attention to infection control and sterilization standards
- A team-player mindset with great patient care instincts
- Dependable, punctual, and ready to jump in where help is needed
