Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment for orthodontic procedures
• Assist the orthodontist during exams and treatments, keeping patients at ease
• Take and develop dental x-rays as directed
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and caring for braces and aligners
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment notes
• Keep the operatory fully stocked and organized for smooth patient flow

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent state certification preferred
• Current Maryland dental radiography certification required
• BLS/CPR certification required
• Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a plus
• A warm, reassuring chairside manner and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, brackets, wires, and bands
• Understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols
• Skill in taking dental impressions and digital scans
• Familiarity with dental charting software
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
