Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents' functional abilities and craft individualized treatment plans that truly change lives
• Deliver skilled occupational therapy interventions that build strength, independence and confidence
• Guide patients through ADL retraining, fine motor work, and adaptive equipment strategies
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, PTs, SLPs and physicians to drive the best outcomes
• Document treatments accurately and timely so every patient's progress is captured
• Educate residents and families on home exercise programs and safe discharge planning
• Supervise and mentor COTAs and therapy aides to keep care quality high
• Celebrate every win, from tying shoes to returning home, no matter how small

Qualifications

• Active Maine Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility to obtain one)
• NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR)
• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Skilled nursing or long-term care experience is a plus, but new grads with strong clinical rotations are welcome
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• A genuine passion for helping people regain independence
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid grasp of occupational therapy evaluation and treatment techniques
• Comfort with ADL training, therapeutic exercise, and adaptive equipment selection
• Familiarity with EMR documentation and therapy software
• Ability to manage a caseload while keeping care personal
• Team-first mindset and clear, warm communication with patients and families
• Patience, creativity and problem-solving when progress comes in small steps
