Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled occupational therapy services to residents in a skilled nursing setting, helping them rebuild independence in daily living
• Evaluate each resident's functional abilities and craft personalized treatment plans that target their unique goals
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques and activities that restore strength and confidence
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, physical therapists and speech therapists to coordinate truly holistic care
• Document treatment progress accurately and thoroughly so every care decision is informed and every milestone is captured
• Educate residents and their families on home safety, adaptive equipment and strategies for continued progress after discharge
• Supervise and mentor therapy assistants while championing the highest standards of rehab practice
• Bring energy, patience and encouragement to every session, because progress happens one small win at a time

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapist license in Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) preferred
• Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care or geriatric rehab is a wonderful plus
• Current BLS certification
• A genuine passion for helping people regain function and dignity in their daily lives
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical assessment and treatment planning skills for adult and geriatric populations
• Comfort with electronic medical records and timely, accurate documentation
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting and functional mobility techniques
• Ability to build rapport quickly with residents, families and interdisciplinary teammates
• Creative problem solving when patients hit a plateau and need a fresh approach
• Time management skills that keep a full caseload moving smoothly
• A warm, patient-centered approach to every interaction
