Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
• Perform interview-based medical exams and focused physical assessments (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
• Document clear, timely reports and addendums that support Veteran claims
• Ensure compliance with non-treatment scope — no prescribing or treatment provided during assessments
• Complete required training and credentialing steps promptly to remain eligible for assignments
• Communicate findings respectfully and collaborate with administrative staff for follow-up documentation

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state where you practice (required)
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine (preferred)
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and separation assessments is highly desirable
• Proven skill in interview-based exams, range of motion testing, and muscle strength testing
• Strong clinical documentation skills — accurate report writing and timely addendums
• Reliable access to an office within a 50-mile radius of the assignment if using your own office
• Willingness to complete client-required training and onboarding

Education

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or DNP preferred for NP role; appropriate advanced practice degree required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of non-treatment, assessment-focused exams (no prescribing or treatment)
• Skillful interview technique to obtain relevant medical and exposure history
• Proficiency in range of motion and muscle strength assessment techniques
• Excellent written communication for clear, defensible reports and addendums
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standardized exam protocols
• Comfort working PRN and adapting to variable schedules and locations
