Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem, Day shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (schedule varies; days assigned as needed)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support safe transfers, mobility and personal hygiene with dignity
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff
- Document care and observations clearly in the resident record
- Communicate effectively with residents, families and the care team to support individualized care plans
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification required
- Current state certification or licensure as applicable to Maryland
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation and punctual arrival for assigned shifts
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and resident hygiene
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Understanding of infection prevention and safe patient handling
- Clear documentation practices and attention to detail
- Ability to work respectfully with older adults, including those with dementia
- Good interpersonal skills and teamwork in a clinical setting
