Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem / as-needed nights, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Night shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Assist with mobility and safe transfers while using proper body mechanics
- Take and record vital signs and report changes in resident condition promptly
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
- Support mealtime assistance and encourage nutrition and hydration
- Communicate effectively with the nursing team and families to promote continuity of care
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents at all times
Qualifications
- GNA certification or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required depending on facility policy
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
- Ability to work nights and be available for per-diem scheduling
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or state-recognized certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing aide skills and familiarity with activities of daily living
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Accurate charting and documentation practices
- Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced care setting
- Professional, empathetic communication with residents and families
