Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in condition, behavior, and vital signs to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Support safe transfers and mobility, following proper lifting and transfer techniques
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Engage residents socially and emotionally to promote dignity and quality of life
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver coordinated care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (state-specific) — required
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and successful background check
- Reliable transportation to and from Bowie, MD assignments
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification (state-specific) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
- Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, observing changes, safe transfers
- Accurate documentation and attention to detail
- Infection control and safety procedure knowledge
- Teamwork, time management, and effective communication with residents and families
