Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (night), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Days vary based on available/per-diem shifts (Night shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate bedside care, observing and reporting changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment for residents
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the facility’s records
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families, promoting comfort and well-being
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (Maryland preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Prior experience caring for geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus
- Ability to pass facility onboarding and background checks
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient-centered care and dignity-focused approach
- Assistance with ADLs (bathing, toileting, feeding, mobility)
- Basic infection control and safety practices
- Observation and timely reporting of resident status changes
- Teamwork, reliability, and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
- Basic charting and familiarity with facility documentation processes
