Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents to promote dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor resident condition and report any changes promptly to the nursing team
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Document care delivered accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
• Help create a warm, home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and meaningful activities

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent licensure recognized in Maryland
• Prior experience in geriatric care or long-term care preferred but new grads are welcome
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to work evenings (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM)

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Clear communication skills with residents, families, and clinical staff
• Good observation skills for noticing changes in behavior or condition
• Basic charting and documentation skills, willingness to learn facility systems
• Team-oriented mindset and solid time management during busy shifts
