Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality maternal and newborn care in a busy mother/baby and labor setting
• Manage labor patients including low and high risk cases, following AWHONN standards and 1:1 ratios during active labor
• Circulate and scrub for Cesarean sections and assist with recoveries and PP D&C when needed
• Perform fetal monitoring, non-stress tests, and interpret telemetry/Cardiac monitoring in emergent situations
• Float to postpartum/MBU as needed and support interdisciplinary teams including IV, respiratory, pharmacy and rapid response
• Precept and mentor colleagues when asked, helping to raise unit performance and patient safety
• Document care accurately in Epic and coordinate smooth handoffs across shifts

Qualifications

• Active CA Registered Nurse (RN) license required (pending license not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience in Labor & Delivery / Mother-Baby (first-timers accepted but 3 years preferred)
• AWHONN Advanced required prior to submittal (C-EFM accepted in lieu of Advanced AWHONN)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS/BLS, FHM, NRP
• Comfortable circulating and scrubbing for C-sections and providing newborn care
• Precepting experience preferred but not required
• Ability to float to mother/baby/postpartum and adapt to a fast-paced acute care hospital

Education

• Active RN license in California required
• BSN preferred (ADN/Associate degrees considered depending on experience)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong labor and delivery management, including experience with high-risk obstetric diagnoses
• Fetal heart monitoring and interpretation (FHM / C-EFM)
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency care skills for rapid response situations
• Neonatal/newborn care and Baby Friendly practices
• Proficient charting in Epic and clear communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to scrub/circulate for surgical procedures and assist in cesarean recovery
• Flexible, reliable, and able to work weekends and float between units
