Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to a diverse MedSurg/Telemetry patient population, including post-surgical, neuro, and cardiac patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, documenting at least once per shift to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists to deliver coordinated care
• Administer medications and set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem) while closely monitoring patient responses
• Support patients and families through education and emotional encouragement during their recovery
• Float to East Campus or PCU as needed, bringing your expertise wherever it's needed most

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona or a compact state
• 2+ years of nursing experience, ideally in MedSurg/Telemetry
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to read basic telemetry strips and interpret ECG rhythms
• Experience with Cerner EMR is helpful, as orientation is only one day
• Experience with general, orthopedic, and neuro-surgical patients preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Knowledge of common MedSurg diagnoses, including CVA, TIA, respiratory, GI, and diabetic conditions
• Comfortable with equipment like BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for a fast-paced 48-bed unit
• Excellent communication for collaborating with charge nurses, aides, and respiratory therapy
• Adaptability to float between units and handle varying patient assignments
