Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, self-scheduling with every third weekend requirement

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality care to a diverse Med Surg Ortho patient population including total joint replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and oncology
Collaborate with a supportive team that values hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting
Float to PCU and behavioral health units as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
Administer medications and manage IV infusions including heparin, antibiotics, and antithrombotics
Monitor patients and respond to changes in condition with confidence and clinical expertise

Qualifications

Active RN license in Iowa or compact state
Current BLS certification required
Minimum one year of recent Med Surg or Ortho experience preferred
Ability to pass a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation
Must live outside a 50-mile radius and not be currently employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Comfortable with self-scheduling and rotating shifts
Flexible and self-directed approach to patient care
Experience with total joint replacements, wound care, and IV management
Ability to float between units and adapt to changing patient needs
