Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric patients in the ICU, managing complex post-op and multi-system cases
• Monitor and manage invasive lines including arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines with precision and infection prevention in mind
• Administer and manage blood products safely and according to hospital protocols
• Start and maintain IVs, titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, and manage continuous IV sedation when needed
• Care for ventilated patients and assist with chest tube insertion and removal
• Manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula support to optimize respiratory status
• Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias to guide timely clinical interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, social services, and lift teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document accurately in Epic and support department quality, safety, and infection prevention initiatives

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years of critical care/ICU experience required; strong candidates welcomed and first-time travelers may be considered
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications required
• Demonstrated experience with arterial, central, and PICC line management and blood product administration
• Comfortable with ventilator care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Ability to float between like units as needed and work night 4x10 schedules
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and strong Epic documentation skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Epic charting system
• Advanced cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Ventilator management and respiratory support modalities (HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP)
• Experience with invasive hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Line); familiarity with Impella and IABP is a plus
• Phlebotomy, infection prevention, isolation precautions, and wound/VAC care
• Ability to manage multisystem organ dysfunction and titrate complex drips safely
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
