Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (includes Days and Nights). Night example: 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Schedule reviewed every 4 weeks; self-schedule requests accepted prior to finalizing; weekend coverage variable based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for adults and geriatrics with acute leukemia and hematology needs
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to identify changes in condition
• Administer IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and manage blood product administration safely
• Access and manage central lines and PICCs, including central line blood draws
• Implement infection prevention and falls prevention protocols with vigilance
• Use Rapid Response Teams appropriately and participate in emergency response as needed
• Care for feeding tubes and manage enteral nutrition safely
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in EPIC to keep the team informed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary supports including PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Radiology

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-required) and current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years
• At least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass (oncology experience preferred; unit will train to oncology patients)
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers will be screened with client for review
• Familiarity with EPIC computerized charting (required)
• Preferred: ONS Chemo Certification and NIHSS

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and MS/Tele monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Blood product administration
• Central line care/management and central line blood draws
• PICC line and peripheral line care/management
• Feeding tube care and management
• Infection prevention and falls prevention strategies
• Use of Rapid Response Teams and emergency response
• Experience charting in EPIC
