Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with care and professionalism
• Conduct thorough medical interviews to gather history relevant to Veterans’ claims
• Perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Complete timely, clear, and well-documented exam reports and any required addendums
• Follow VES practice descriptions and required training to ensure compliance and quality
• Coordinate with the VES team for scheduling and administrative follow-up as needed
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to non-treatment exam guidelines (no prescribing or treatment)

Qualifications

• Physician (MD or DO) with clinical experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension exams and one-time non-treatment assessments preferred
• Comfort performing medical interviews and focused physical testing such as ROM and muscle strength exams
• Ability to document clear, timely exam reports and complete any required administrative follow-up
• If applying for provider-owned-office option, must have an office location within 50 miles of the listed city
• Willingness to complete VES required training and participate in quick credentialing/onboarding

Education

• MD or DO degree required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical interviewing skills and attention to detail
• Competence in range of motion and muscle strength testing techniques
• Excellent medical documentation and report-writing skills
• Understanding of non-treatment exam protocols and scope (no prescribing)
• Time management skills to complete exams and necessary follow-up within scheduled sessions
• Comfort working in a PRN/contract model and adapting to variable schedules
