Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' functional mobility and design individualized treatment plans to improve strength, balance, and independence
• Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional retraining
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve measurable outcomes
• Document care thoroughly and timely in the medical record system to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with nursing, occupational therapy, and custodial staff to coordinate safe, effective patient care
• Educate patients and caregivers about home programs and strategies to reduce risk of re-injury
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and follow facility policies for infection control and security

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist license in California (or compact-state privilege if applicable)
• BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) a plus
• Experience in a medical, inpatient, or rehabilitation setting preferred
• Comfort working in a correctional or secured healthcare environment is highly desirable
• Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; professional demeanor with diverse patient populations

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; Master’s or Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy or equivalent considered per state requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, and mobility training
• Knowledge of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and fall prevention strategies
• Skilled at patient assessment, goal setting, and outcome measurement
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation practices
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and follow facility protocols
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt treatment plans to varied patient needs
