Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical function and mobility using evidence-based evaluation techniques
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function
• Provide therapeutic interventions, therapeutic exercise, and patient education with clear goals
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary medical team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Document interventions, progress, and outcomes accurately and timely in the medical record
• Maintain patient safety and follow facility policies, including any required security or custody procedures

Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in California (or ability to obtain it prior to start)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain during orientation)
• Clinical experience in medical/rehabilitation settings preferred; corrections experience is a plus
• Comfort working within facility-specific policies and completing required background clearance
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and the care team

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; Master's in Physical Therapy or equivalent considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment, therapeutic exercise, and mobility training
• Familiarity with documentation standards and outcome measurement
• Knowledge of common modalities and assistive device training
• Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively
• Strong patient education and motivational coaching skills
• Comfort collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in a correctional healthcare setting
