Orthopedic Surgeon
Location: Brattleboro, VT
Contract Type: Perm
Shift Type: Day shifts — typical daytime OR schedule; rotating on-call coverage as part of full-time orthopedic service (specific start/end times vary by OR schedule)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and evaluate orthopedic conditions using exams, medical history and diagnostic imaging like X-ray, MRI and CT
- Develop individualized treatment plans that balance surgical and non-surgical approaches tailored to each patient
- Perform orthopedic surgical procedures including joint replacement, fracture repair and arthroscopy with surgical excellence
- Provide thorough pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure patient safety and optimal recovery
- Collaborate closely with primary care, physical and occupational therapy, and rehabilitation specialists for coordinated care
- Document evaluations, treatment plans and surgical outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families about diagnoses, options, and care plans
- Engage in continuing education and apply evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree) with completed residency in Orthopedic Surgery
- Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery (friendly encouragement to maintain certification and CME)
- Proven proficiency in joint replacement, fracture repair, arthroscopy and other orthopedic procedures
- Experience interpreting diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) as part of musculoskeletal evaluation
- Comfort and experience providing pre- and post-operative care and participating in on-call coverage
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. — this position is not open to visa candidates
- Candidates should be located within a 1-hour commute (the role is not open to those who commute more than 1 hour)
- Not open to LOCUM or LOCUM-to-PERM arrangements; full-time staff commitment expected
Education
- MD or DO (or equivalent) with completed Orthopedic Surgery residency
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in orthopedic surgical techniques and musculoskeletal care
- Skilled in diagnostic imaging interpretation (X-ray, MRI, CT)
- Strong diagnostic reasoning and problem-solving for complex orthopedic cases
- Ability to develop evidence-based treatment plans, surgical and non-surgical
- Excellent interpersonal skills for patient communication and team collaboration
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and maintaining complete medical records
- Experience coordinating care with physical and occupational therapy teams
