Roles & Responsibilities

• Welcome patients warmly and get them comfortably settled for their orthodontic visits
• Assist the orthodontist chairside with adjustments, wire changes and bracket placement
• Prepare and sterilize instruments to keep every appointment safe and smooth
• Take dental radiographs and intraoral scans with accuracy and care
• Keep treatment rooms stocked, organized and ready for the next patient
• Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, retainers and after-visit care
• Document treatment notes and update patient records in the practice system

Qualifications

• Active orthodontic certification required
• Current Dental Assistant credentials for the state of Maryland, including Radiology certification
• Prior chairside experience in an orthodontic or dental practice
• CPR/BLS certification current and in good standing
• Strong communication skills and a genuine love for patient care
• Ability to work the 1:30 PM - 9:00 PM shift reliably
• Team player attitude with a positive, can-do spirit

• Orthodontic procedures, wires, brackets and appliance adjustments
• Four-handed chairside assisting techniques
• Infection control and instrument sterilization standards
• Digital radiography and intraoral scanning
• Patient charting and electronic dental record systems
• Patient education and comfort management
• Time management in a busy, fast paced clinical setting
